What are the legitimate make money online opportunities in 2018? What are the best stay-at-home jobs for women?
Specifically, what are the best online jobs for stay-at-home moms?
If these are the questions that you type in Google, then this post is for you.
On my blog I focus on honest, legitimate ways to make money online.
Recently I spoke with a freelancing colleague of mine about online jobs and it inspired me to write this post.
Although this article was written for stay-at-home moms, it will equally work for stay-at-home dads, or even kid-less college students.
I realize that you might be skeptical that I am not myself a mom and why would I even bother writing?
And even though that is true that I myself am not a mom yet, I do have 3 baby nephews that I often babysit.
Besides that, at my favorite online business community, I meet a lot of moms who work from home and who were kind enough to share their knowledge and experience with me.
Working online is a great option for people who want to spend time with their kids/families and still have positive cash flow.
As a former freelancer/current blogger myself, I know for a fact that working online allows you to be flexible with time and place.
Heck, it’s one of the main reasons I started exploring online opportunities a few years ago!
Anyway, through my own experience and the experience of fellow colleagues, I came up with the 3 best work from home jobs for moms.
Here is what to expect in this post (click to jump to the section you want to read about):
Best Online Jobs for Stay-at-Home Moms (2018)
Let’s get started.
Legitimate Work from Home Jobs for Moms
1. LiveOps Call Centre Services
Personally, this is not exactly my kind of line of work but according to one of my blogging colleagues, it was one of the best online jobs that she’s tried.
And she’s tried a LOT of them.
And what more, it’s BBB accredited and has A+ rating.
What is LiveOps?
LiveOps is a company that hires remote call center agents.
If you work for them, you are considered to be an independent contractor with your own online business.
- (This means that you will be responsible for paying your own taxes).
A few things that will be your responsibility are:
- paying for a criminal background check,
- having your phone line, and,
- most likely working when your kids are asleep (to have a quiet environment).
How does LiveOps work?
Once you are all good and your application is approved, LiveOps will take you through a great training program on how to handle calls from different companies.
You set your own working schedule and during that schedule, your phone will ring and you will see a script popping up on your screen.
Following that, you would read the script and input customer information as you go along.
Don’t worry if the customer will have questions – you will have a screen with frequently asked questions that you can refer to.
In addition to that you will have a private online chat room with supervisors, in case you need support.
It seems to be a great company as it offers constant feedback on performance and provides extra incentives for sales.
The better is your performance, the higher is the chance for you to receive higher paying projects.
How much does it pay?
You are paid 25 cents per minute of talk time.
Typically, LiveOps agents make from $7 to $14 per hour.
According to Indeed.com, average LiveOps hourly pay ranges from approximately $8.31 per hour for Call Center Representative to $27.28 per hour for Insurance Agent.
The average LiveOps salary ranges from approximately $14,626 per year for Customer Service Representative to $30,000 per year for Insurance Agent.
Please remember that you set your own schedule and it is absolutely flexible.
Besides that, you are allowed to log in and work when you are not scheduled if you want to make some extra impromptu cash.

2. TakeLessons – Become a tutor and give lessons online
If you like teaching and would like to teach others something that you are skilled at, whether it is singing, dancing, or languages, then I can suggest two platforms for you to try out.
First is the TakeLessons platform.
I personally didn’t use it but heard about it from fellow freelancers.
With TakeLessons you will need to (1) fill out their application, (2) complete a background check and (3) agree to their independent contractor terms.
Once you get a student, you will start getting 60% of what he/she pays.
And for every 5 lessons you teach, you’ll make 10% more of that student’s price, which equals to 90% of what you can make with TakeLessons.
3. iTalki – Become a foreign language tutor
Another platform is iTalki.
iTalki is a language-only tutoring platform.
This is something I myself tried and I am still a part of the language community (I love learning foreign languages).
What is iTalki?
iTalki is a worldwide community with more than a million of language learners and over a thousand of language teachers/community tutors.
Founded in 2007, now it has impressive social media presence with over 50,000 Facebook followers.
How does iTalki work?
You can apply as:
- a “Professional Teacher” (with a degree and other relevant certificates), OR
- a “Community Tutor” (just native speakers without degrees whatsoever).
After you fill out their application, you will be listed in their large database of language teachers/community tutors.
Once you are, the students worldwide will be able to book a session with you via Skype or free VOIP software.
- The sessions can take from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
- Once the learning/teaching session is complete, you will be credited the iTalki currency (10 iTalki credits = 1 USD).
Tip: Make sure to create a good profile with a great introduction video, so that students want you as their language teacher.
How much does it pay?
As I mentioned earlier, iTalki works with credits system where 10 iTalki credits are equivalent to 1 US dollar.
You are allowed to set your own price for the teaching sessions, which usually ranges from $10 to $30 per hour.
iTalki takes 15% cut of your earnings.
The rest can be withdrawn once a month via:
- Webmoney, and,

4. Textbroker – Become a freelance writer
I’ve mentioned this earlier but before I started blogging for business (making money with a blog), I was a freelancer.
I did pretty much everything related to writing.
Now, if you are a beginner and are interested in freelance writing too, then Textbroker.com is a nice place to start at.
How does Textbroker work?
Once you apply to Textbroker, you will be asked about your areas of expertise (i.e. the topics that you would like to write about).
Then you will be asked to create a sample piece so that you get rated within the system.
- This is important as this is how your compensation for your future work will be determined.
Your rating is based on the last 5 articles that you submitted and it does change as you go along.
As soon as your article is accepted, your commissions will be credited to your account and you will be able to withdraw your earnings via PayPal as soon as it reaches the minimum of $10.
Check out the screenshot below of your Textbroker earnings at a glance.
One piece of advice.
If you decide to sign up with Textbroker, I strongly recommend you work on your sample piece as hard as possible.
Do the necessary research and work on your draft several times.
In addition to that, work on your first 5 articles as hard as possible too to achieve a high rating within the Textbroker system.
This will allow you to have a higher pay as opposed to people who have a low rating.
Generally speaking, writing takes practice, so don’t get discouraged if you get a low rating.
Who knows, maybe in the future you will decide to create a blog and that writing experience will be a huge bonus for you.

5. Swagbucks: A 100% scam-free way to earn side cash
I promised you a bonus info that won’t require any investment (of your money, energy or time).
Swagbucks is one of my favourite ways to make money online 100% FREE.
Basically it is a rewards program that pays for the things that you already do online:
- web browsing,
- watching videos,
- online shopping,
And so forth.
The reason why I love it is because it’s free to join, it’s fun to make money with it and it doesn’t require much energy or time on my part.
It won’t make you a millionaire but it definitely will help you make side cash.
